"World Coconut Day" was first declared in 2009 by the Asian and Pacific Coconut Community (APCC), a coalition of major coconut-producing countries in Asia and the Pacific. September 2 also marks the anniversary of APCC’s founding.

Emphasize coconuts as a vital agricultural resource and economic foundation for millions.

 

Promote sustainable production methods and environmental preservation in the coconut industry.

 

Express gratitude to coconut farmers and workers, calling for improvements in their quality of life.

 

 

Value of Coconuts: The "Tree of Life"

 

In countries like the Philippines, Indonesia, and India, the coconut tree is called the "Tree of Life" because every part can be used beneficially.

 

Economic Value : Coconuts are a key export crop for tropical countries. Coconut oil, coconut milk, and copra are major sources of income for farmers.

 

Cultural & Practical Value :

 

- Food & Drink: Coconut water is a natural electrolyte drink, and the flesh is eaten fresh or used for cooking oil.
