Becoming an ambassador for a luxury brand is both an opportunity and an honor for a celebrity, but being placed on a brand’s “Do Not Sell” list can be more painful than any scandal.
This is an extreme strategy to protect the brand’s exclusivity and philosophy, often sending the powerful message: “Our brand is above your fame.”
Such cases are not rare in the supercar industry.

Ferrari believes that they are not simply selling cars to customers but granting them membership in the “Ferrari Owners” club. Therefore, they have strict ownership rules, and violating them can land you on the blacklist, restricting future new car purchases.
These rules include: banning resale within one year of purchase to prevent flipping, prohibiting excessive tuning or modifications to preserve the car’s originality and design, and forbidding any behavior that may damage Ferrari’s reputation and prestige.
Justin Bieber is a prime example of someone blacklisted by Ferrari.
He wrapped his 458 Italia in neon blue, replaced the wheels, and made unauthorized modifications. Worse, he sold the car at a charity auction, violating multiple Ferrari rules at once. As a result, he was permanently blacklisted.
Floyd Mayweather and Nicolas Cage were blacklisted for frequent reselling, which was deemed to damage the brand’s value.
Kim Kardashian’s case is more complex. Besides her frequent customizations, she once received a Ferrari as a wedding gift from a convicted financial fraudster. Ferrari is extremely sensitive about its cars being associated with criminals, and this incident was seen as tarnishing the brand image—leading to her blacklisting.
Rolls-Royce, which values “quiet luxury,” tradition, and elegance, is also known to refuse sales to individuals whose image is excessively flashy or inconsistent with the brand’s values.
Kim Kardashian is also on Rolls-Royce’s “avoid” list. The company reportedly declined her request for a specific model, believing her reality TV star image clashed with their restrained and refined “old money” aesthetic.
American rapper Tyga often flaunted his Rolls-Royce on social media. However, after failing to pay his lease on time and having the vehicle repossessed, Rolls-Royce reportedly saw this as seriously damaging to their prestige and placed him on the blacklist.

The rumor that Bugatti banned Tom Cruise from buying a new car is rather bizarre.
At the 2006 premiere of Mission: Impossible III, Cruise arrived driving a Bugatti Veyron with his then-wife Katie Holmes in the passenger seat. When he tried to open her door, he struggled repeatedly before finally succeeding—an awkward moment broadcast live.
The story goes that Bugatti felt this harmed their brand image and blacklisted him as a result.
