The newly unveiled official match ball for the 2026 World Cup is named ‘Trionda’, which means “three waves” in Spanish.

Visually, the ball commemorates the historic first triple host of the World Cup – the United States, Canada, and Mexico – with each country’s symbolic color (blue for the U.S., green for Mexico, red for Canada) incorporated into its design.

Its surface is adorned with detailed motifs representing each nation, such as the star (U.S.), eagle (Mexico), and maple leaf (Canada), while golden accents add a touch of World Cup prestige.

‘Trionda’ adopts a unique design consisting of only four large panels forming a triangular structure. Compared to previous World Cup balls, the reduced panel count allows for a rounder, smoother flight trajectory and greater stability.

The panels feature deep seams, premium texture, and fine embossing to improve grip and control, even in humid conditions.

Another highlight is the “Connected Ball” technology: an ultra-fast sensor chip embedded inside the ball tracks movement and contact points in real time.

This data is automatically integrated with the VAR (Video Assistant Referee) system, expected to greatly enhance the reliability of crucial decisions such as offsides.

FIFA and adidas describe Trionda as “a historic ball that masterfully combines innovative technology with cultural significance,” expressing immense pride.

The precision of its new sensor, panel structure, and use of sustainable materials also underscore its eco-friendly innovation.
